Ivy Spring Farm

Rescue Dog Available

"Jemma"

Jemma is an actual gem of a dog! She was spotted multiple times over a two month period living outside, but no one was able to catch her. Owners of a horse farm in York, PA were finally able to coax her into a horse stall. She is estimated to be about 9 months old. People have said she reminds them of a plott hound, doberman, or shepherd but her breed is unknown. She was quite thin when she first arrived at my house, but with proper nutrition, she has been steadily gaining weight. We have been working on basic skills and socialization with her. She did not know how to walk on a leash and was quite scared of it. Now, she is walking wonderfully and enjoys going for walks. She has adjusted so quickly to living in my house and will make someone a wonderful companion. She will need someone that is patient with her because she gets very nervous if you raise your voice. She is extremely polite, well behaved, and brilliant. She picks up on routines very quickly and has fit right into our household full of pets. She needs a home where she will get regular exercise but she is very calm for a young dog and is happy to lay at my feet while I work at my desk. She is currently living with 4 other male dogs (all neutered) and lots of cats in my home! She does excellent with all of them. She also is hands down amazing with my 18 month old daughter. I can't believe how well Jemma has adjusted to life as a house pet. She really seems to appreciate the love and care that we have given her. It will be hard to see her leave.

She will come with the following shots: DA2PPV 5-in-1 vaccine, Lepto, Bordetella, and Rabies. She is on a monthly dose of Revolution for parasite prevention. I do not intend to profit from this so the adoption fee will be low. There is an application required for prospective adopters to ensure she goes to the very best home. She is ready to be spayed and I do require that it be done within 60 days. She is house trained. She will do best in a home with at least one other dog. Other dogs bring out her personality and she definitely learns what is expected from her by watching my other dogs. From what I have observed, she will be a great companion in a home with dogs, cats and children. She has not shown any aggressive tendencies whatsoever.
